Include all ideas. You can be windy when you write, like I am. For a one page Should you edit out final letter write three or four pages, minimum. Write profusely. Then take a the silly ideas as a break. You deserve it. Nice job.
Do not edit or nix ideas or thoughts when you you write? are writing - leave everything in. Everything you think - the good ideas, the bad ideas - even the silly stuff, write it all down no matter how outrageous. If you start editing you will stop the idea flow and the session will be self-defeating. Then. in a separate session. edit severely.
After a few rewrites, get away from your work for a while and do other A necessary part things. Then after an hour or two (a day or two if you have the luxury of time), of writing is to get return. This grace period is a necessary part of the creative process so you can see your writing in a fresh light.
When you get back to the letter you wrote with a fresh view read it fast and mark it up on the fly. Note words or thoughts that seem out of place and awkward, and strike them out. If you can't decide if a block of copy should stay or go, strike it out at What do you do this time. Remember, there isn't room for everything.
And there's no room for when you have a guessing - if you have to guess if you should leave something in or not, take it doubt about some out - or your reader won't be so kind. When they get to the awkward part, they'll throw the whole thing away. Every letter I write, I'll have written it, read it, rewritten it, and refined it so many times before the final draft I just about have it memorized.
The upper right-hand corner of your paper, compare every line you write to it. Does this line or sentence help the objective, while fulfilling one of the four reasons for each sentence? Will someone reading this line be more interested in your offer? Will they be more apt to fulfill the objective? Then edit severely again. Keep the copy interesting, tight, and crisp. Leave only your best stuff on the page.
Finally, edit again. I say this from lots of experience. Since we all see so much information, especially promotional material.
